A wage raise for public employees was unexpectedly announced yesterday by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is worried about the nation’s soaring inflation and growing cost of living. The governor, who is the chief policymaker in Lagos State, is also a member of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government.
Lagos State Government increased the pay of its civil sector employees by more than 25%.
According to current estimates, new hires in the Lagos State Government public service can expect to make between ₦62,000 and ₦82,096 per month (Grade Level 1) after taxes but excluding allowances.
