Peter Crouch says Arsenal winger ‘didn’t really have a kick’ vs Brentford

Peter Crouch has expressed his disappointment with two Arsenal players for their performances against Brentford.

Arsenal won 1-0 against Brentford away from home in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

So, what did Peter Crouch say about Arsenal duo Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, Arsenal won 1-0 against Brentford in the London derby on Saturday evening. Germany international Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the match in the 89th minute and impressed Granit Xhaka among others.

Although Arsenal got the job done in the end and picked up all three points from the London derby, I have to say that Mikel Arteta’s side were not very convincing, especially in the first half in front of goal.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch was following the match for TNT Sports. He noticed that Arsenal attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard and winger Gabriel Martinelli were not very good against the Bees.

Crouch said on TNT Sports (7:56 pm, November 25, 2023): “They (Brentford) kept the big players pretty quiet. I thought Odegaad was quiet. I thought Martinelli didn’t really have a kick.”

In my view, Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli had a disappointing match against Brentford. The Brazil international started on the left of a front-three and played for 79 minutes before Kai Havertz replaced him.

Although Martinelli had his moments, the 22-year-old could not really put the Brentford defence under pressure. The Bees kept him quiet and made him quite ineffective.

Like Martinelli, Martin Odegaard also had a quiet game. The Norway international playmaker could not penetrate the Brentford defence and hardly did anything of note in the first half.

Although the former Real Madrid attacking midfielder improved after the break, I believe that it was one of his worst games for Arsenal in recent times.
