A supercomputer has predicted that Chelsea will just come up short in their quest to reach the Champions League spots. Mauricio Pochettino 's side came from behind three times to draw 4-4 with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in an all-time, Premier League classic.
Having beaten rivals Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the week, the Blues are starting to find their feet under their new manager, but still just inside the top half of the table. Following a bumpy start to Pochettino's tenure in West London, his side are currently 10 points off the side who currently occupy fourth spot.
Despite the recent upturn in results, AI-powered algorithm by bettingexpert’s BETSiE predicts Chelsea to miss out on qualifying for the Champions League next season. The supercomputer expects Pochettino's side to accumulate 64.4 points - over 20.4 more points than last year.
Aston Villa are predicted to finish fifth which could be enough to earn a spot in the Champions League this season.
Despite their 1-0 win over Luton Town at the weekend, Manchester United are still expected to miss out on the top four, with the supercomputer predicting them to finish eighth on 58.4 points. Other clubs in the capital see Brentford and West Ham finish in 10th and 11th respectively, while Fulham's struggles are predicted to continue - they are forecast to finish in 16th.
What is perhaps not as much of a shock is who the algorithm predicts will drop down to the Championship. Newly-promoted clubs Sheffield United, Luton Town and Burnley currently occupy the bottom three and, according to BETSiE, that is not expected to change.
